Volleyball pre-game routines can vary from player to player, but some standard practices can help prepare your body and mind for competition.
Here are a few ideas:
1. Dynamic stretching: Before a game, it’s essential to warm up your muscles with some light cardio exercises and dynamic stretching. This can help prevent injuries and get your blood flowing. It’s essential to get a really good stretch before exercise to prevent injury and ensure that we are preparing our body to play. I have a very dedicated stretching routine, which I have been doing for a long time. Think about a routine that can help you prepare for the game.
2. Mental preparation: Visualize your performance and focus on positive self-talk. This can help you stay confident and motivated during the game. I try to mentally prepare for everything I do prior to doing it. It’s essential to develop a mental routine to get your mind right before the game and develop mental solid strengths.
3. Team huddle: Gather with your team to review the game plan, discuss strategy, and offer words of encouragement.
4. Hydration: Drink plenty of water before the game to stay hydrated and energized. Fun fact: water does not replenish electrolytes, but a drink like Gatorade, Powerade, and Body Armor can help replenish those electrolytes that we need.
5. Listen to music: Listen to your favorite pump-up playlist to get in the zone and boost your energy levels. My playlist is 100% a motivator for me; think about developing a playlist that can assist you with getting ready with motivating and quick-moving songs.
Remember, everyone is different, so find a pre-game routine that works best for you.
Keep Playing,
